Madness Movie Review: Alien Covenant (2017)

Alien Covenant (2017) is a movie directed by Ridley Scott and is the direct sequel to Prometheus (2012).

The movie answered some questions I didn't even knew I had, but made me question more things. Thanks a lot! There's something that appears in this movie and is connected with Alien (1979). They explained how that something was conceived, but I don't know how I feel about that explanation. I think there's things that don't need explanations. I guess is a bit nitpicking from my part, but it actually affects the first movie. One thing that happened in the end was too obvious it was going to happen, it was a bit lazy from my perspective. Stupid characters, why is there always stupid characters? Yeah I know, "there wouldn't be a plot! ". The last problem I had with the movie was, it made me think to much in the better sequels, in a action point of view. Once again, probably to much nitpicking of my part. For a sequel to a Prometheus movie, this movie has too much aliens and less engineers, which i think is a negative point against the movie, because with the ending of Prometheus I wanted to know a bit more about the Engineers, Paradise and how did they create that gow. I guess i will have to wait for another sequel, Alien:Pangu

Okay, now the positives. This is a gorgeous movie, it has a good combination of Aliens action with the tenseful and uncomfortable mood of Alien. Being a direct sequel of Prometheus, it of course has that Prometheus philosophy, continuing that idea of “creation and destruction” and exploring it through David’s dialogue and interaction with a another character. Like Alien the movie starts very slowly, than has a burst of action, than slows down again for some philosophy talk and than some more action.

The characters are in most part likable and, unlike Alien Shitssurection, not only Alien food. Okay, except for one stupid and annoying character. God!! She screws up big and thanks to her people die!!

The end was so, so predictable, I didn’t like it at all, i don’t know what Ridley Scott was thinking. It’s obvious there’s going to be a sequel, so you can look at this movie has the Batman v Superman of the Prometheus franchise. The movie only exists so we can have a sequel that will actually explain what happen in Alien (1979). Still, I think it deserves a watch, and you should watch this in the movies.
